Operating-System Versions

The commands and files listed in this comparative overview apply to the operating-system versions shown below. In most cases, vendors are consistent from version to version so you don't need to worry about the exact OS release. But occasionally you will need to be aware of the release details. For example, the Solaris patchadd command didn't exist before Solaris 2.6 (it replaced the installpatch command).
