Requirements
If you are running Mac OS X Lion, all that your computer needs in order to connect to the IllinoisNet wireless network are the proper configuration settings. Continue to the next section for instructions.
Initial configuration
1. Download the IllinoisNet Configuration File from http://www.cites.illinois.edu/wireless/wpa2/IllinoisNet.mobileconfig
If you're reading a printed page rather than a website right now
If you're currently reading these instructions as a handout rather than online, you'll need to get to a computer with network access in order to download the IllinoisNet Configuration File for your Mac OS X 10.7 computer. Your options include:
- On campus - use QuickConnect to establish a network connection.
- Off campus - use your usual method of establishing a network connection.
- Campus computer labs - bring a thumb drive in order to download the file and transfer it to your OSX 10.7 computer.
Once you have a network connection, download the configuration file located at http://www.cites.illinois.edu/wireless/wpa2/IllinoisNet.mobileconfig, transfer the file to your Mac OS X 10.7 computer (if you downloaded it onto a different device), and continue with step 2 below.
2. Click on the IllinoisNet Mobile Configuration package file to launch it.
3. In the profile window that appears, click Continue.

4. In the confirmation window that appears, click Continue.

When asked for the settings for IllinoisNet Wireless, enter:
- Username: your NetID
(given as yournetid, not yournetid@illinois.edu) - Password: Your Active Directory password

5. Click the Install button at the lower right corner of the window.
6. The profiles window will appear and indicate that the profile has been successfully installed. (The profile will be listed as Unverified. This is fine.)

Optional: Removing UIUCnet Wireless from your wireless options
After you've installed the securely encrypted IllinoisNet Wireless configuration, you may want to remove the unencrypted UIUCnet Wireless from your computer's list of wireless options, so that your computer will automatically use IllinoisNet Wireless whenever it's in range.
How to remove UIUCnet Wireless from your wireless options
1. Open the System Preferences window.

2. In the Internet & Wireless section, click Network.
3. In the Network window's left-hand column, select Wi-Fi.
