Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and WPA2 Wireless

Requirements

In order to connect to the UIwpa2 wireless network with a Mac OS X computer, your system must:

To check your system's compatibility, go to the Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info to open the System Profiler. Then, under the Network heading, look at your AirPort card information.

If your system doesn't meet the requirements for WPA2, you can continue to use UIUCnet Wireless instead.

Initial configuration

1. Click on the AirPort icon and select UIwpa2 from the list of available networks. (It may take a few seconds for the list of available networks to be populated.)

2. Log in with your NetID and Active Directory password
(or your guest ID and password).

(If prompted about server certificate trust settings, usually on the first connection):

3. Click the Show Certificate button to show certificate details.

4. Select Always trust these certificates
for neauth1.cites.uiuc.edu (or neauth2.cites.uiuc.edu).

5. Click Continue.

Once your authentication finishes, you’re connected to the UIwpa2 service.

Trouble connecting?

If your computer's autoconfiguration settings don't work, try the detailed configuration settings for Mac OS X 10.4 instead.

Disconnecting when finished

When you're done using the UIwpa2 network, return to the Internet Connect window and click the Disconnect button.
