VPN Clients for Other Systems
This page contains links to download and installation instructions for VPN software for other operating systems.
If you aren't using one of the Windows or Macintosh operating systems listed in the download and installation page, CITES cannot provide support for you.
However, you may be able to configure your system to connect to the CITES VPN server if your system offers a PPTP-capable VPN client.
To construct your own VPN connection method, you should configure your VPN client as follows:
- VPN server name: vpn3.near.uiuc.edu
- Connection method: PPTP
- Username: Your NetID
- Password: Your Active Directory password
- Authentication Domain Name: none
- On some Linux variants, you may need to add additional configuration information:
Refuse 40-bit encryption
Require Microsoft Point to Point Encryption [MPPE]
As mentioned above, CITES cannot provide personal support or assistance if you are not using one of our supported clients. These guidelines are available for reference, but you will need to work out the configuration of your own system and its VPN client.
