My name is Paul Hixon, and I’m the interim CIO for the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign.  I’ve worked at the University for many years now and have worked on a number of different projects and had the opportunity to travel to different places around the world. 

There are challenges to communicating across boundaries, especially when it comes to having effective tools and controlling costs.  So recently when I was in Rwanda, I needed to contact a colleague back on the U of I campus. 

I was able to open up my Unified Communication tool and make a video call to Joe.  It was pretty amazing; here I was in Rwanda, yet I was talking face to face with Joe as if he just walked into my office.
