Academic Telecommunications Advisory Group (ATAG)

This page has information about the Academic Telecommunications Advisory Group.

The Academic Telecommunications Advisory Group (ATAG) is made up of assistant and associate deans, directors, and administrators who make IT decisions for their units. The purpose of this group is to serve in an advisory role for UC @ Illinois.

Charter for the Group

  • The ATAG membership will set priorities and provide governance about the UC @ illinois milestones and schedule.
  • ATAG will advise the CITES executive leadership and provide advice and review to the Provost.
  • Given the time frame for this project, it is anticipated the group will initially meet every two weeks. As the project gets established and the conversion priorities are set, the group will likely meet once a month.
  • Each college or unit will most likely want to establish its own priority list and approaches to converting its faculty and staff to the campus Unified Communications system. CITES will be able to provide help in assessing “unit readiness” needed to make the conversion (e.g., appropriate data network facilities). ATAG will first review and vet priorities that go across all colleges and units, regarding who is converted in what order over the life of the project. During implementation, ATAG will review and advise on issues that may affect meeting conversion deadlines, especially those that depend on prioritization or time frames determined by others.
  • The group will advise the CITES executive leadership on where additional resource or priority changes may be required to address special cases.
  • ATAG will play a key role in advising the CITES executive leadership and Provost if there are significant changes to the timing or requirements for the project over time.
  • The group will document its advice as part of an open campus process that informs and appropriately consults the deans, directors, department heads and campus community.
  • The chair and the CITES executive leadership will review the progress of the group with the Provost on a regular basis.
