Multi-Line Standard Features
This page contains information about multi-line telephones.
Making calls
The telephone number is unique to that particular station. This number can appear on other stations, if required.
For calls to campus numbers (332, 333, 244, and 265 pager numbers)
- Lift the handset.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial last five digits.
For outside calls
- Lift handset.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Dial 9 plus the telephone number.
Call transfer
To transfer a call to another campus station
- Press the CONF 3 button.
- Listen for the recall dial tone.
- Dial the campus number.
- Listen for ringing.
- Announce the call.
- Press the CONF 3 button again.
- Prese the RLS button.
- Hang up.
- If the station is busy or is not answered, return to the original call by pressing the RLS button and then the flashing line button.
Call hold
To hold an existing call
- Press the HOLD button
- The indicator diamond will flash.
- Press another line key.
- The first call will automatically be put on hold.
To return to the call
- Press the original line key.
- You will be returned to the caller you put on hold.
Consultation
To consult privately with a third party
To hold a call and consult
- Press CONF 3 button.
- Listen for recall dial tone.
- Dial the third party's telephone number
- Listen for ringing.
- The third party answers.
- Consult.
- If the station is busy or is not answered, return to the original call by pressing the RLS button and then the flashing line button.
To return to the original party
- Third party hangs up.
- Press the flashing original line key.
Call park
To hold a call and retrieve it from another station
To activate
- Press Call Park button.
- Listen for confirmation tone.
- Hang up.
To retrieve a call
- Lift the handset.
- Listen for a dial tone.
- Press the Call Park button.
- Listen for the recall dial tone.
- Dial the 5-digit number of telephone that originally parked the call.
Three-way conference
To add a third party to an existing call
- Place original call on hold by pressing the CONF 3 button.
- Listen for the recall dial tone.
- Dial the third party's telephone number.
- Listen for ringing.
- Press the CONF 3 button again.
- All three parts are connected.
- If the station is busy or is not answered, return to original call by depressing the RLS button and then the button with the flashing indicator.
Six-way conference
To conference four to six parties
To activate
- Lift the handset.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press the CONF 6 button.
- Dial the number of the first conferee.
- Announce your call when party answers.
- Press the CONF 6 button again.
To add a conferee (repeat for each conferee added)
- Press CONF 6 button.
- Listen for recall dial tone.
- Dial the number of second conferee.
- Announce your call when party answers (if the line is busy, see below).
To delete a conferee or if a busy signal is reached
- Press the RLS button and the button with flashing line button.
Call forward
To have your incoming calls forwarded on campus; primary station only
- While call forwarding is activated, your phone will no long ring. However, your phone may be used to make calls.
- Off-campus Call Forward must be requested through your Telecommunications Unit Coordinator. Though there is no additional monthly fee charged for this feature, long-distance charges apply if the phone is forwarded to a number outside of the local area.
To forward calls on campus
- Without lifting handset, press the CALL FWD button.
- Dial the campus number to which calls will be forwarded.
- Press CALL FWD button.
To cancel call forward
- Without lifting the handset, press the CALL FWD button.
Last number redial
To recall the last number dialed
To activate
- Lift the handset.
- Listen for a dial tone.
- Press the # button twice
- The last number will be automatically redialed.
On hook dialing
To place calls without lifting the receiver
- Press line button without lifting the handset.
- Listen for a dial tone.
- Dial the number.
- The call progress can be monitored through the business set speaker.
- When the party answers, lift the handset and begin speaking.
Authorization/account code option
Button or feature code activation. Allows callers to charge certain long-distance calls to different university accounts by entering optional authorization or account codes. Authorization codes are verified by the system; however, university account numbers are not verified. For more information on this feature, please contact Service Request Management at 333-1161.
Call forward reason display
Display sets only. Indicates the reason a call was forwarded to your phone (e.g., on busy, did not answer, forward all calls). For more information on this feature, please contact Service Request Management at 333-1161.
Personal call screening
Enables a station that has calls forwarded to it to transfer calls back to the original station without the call forward feature being cancelled. For more information on this feature, please contact Service Request Management at 333-1161.
Restriction
Allows units to designate certain stations or lines as long-distance, campus and local area restricted, or campus-only restricted. For more information on this feature, please contact Service Request Management at 333-1161.
