Managing Campus Automated Attendant Listings

Individual faculty and staff are encouraged to manage their official office phone information for use in Campus Automated Attendant. It is critically important for faculty and staff to maintain correct phone information. Callers will not be correctly redirected if an official office phone number is missing, incomplete, or incorrect.

Please use the link below for instructions and further information on managing an individual entry.

How Campus Automated Attendant Works

The system works the same whether a person is calling from on- or off-campus. When someone calls for information, the caller is asked to say the name of the person they are trying to reach. .

Requests for individual faculty/staff listings:

  • Callers should speak the name slowly and clearly.
  • Campus Automated Attendant will repeat the name as it recognizes it or give a short list of available options.
  • Callers are asked to confirm their choice.
  • Once a name is confirmed, Campus Automated Attendant transfers callers to numbers from its database (based the Employee Information Form in NESSIE, see Managing Your Individual Entry).
  • If Campus Automated Attendant cannot understand the name, the caller will be asked to repeat the name.
  • At the beginning of the search and throughout the process callers are referred to Illinois Directory, an online directory for campus.

Note: Campus Automated Attendant does not use information from Illinois Directory; however, it is another resource for helping people find you on campus.

Callers seeking departmental information are directed to visit Illinois Directory, an online campus directory.
