Description |
UIUC Active Directory Service (AD) allows
departments and units to manage and share computer resources with
other departments
on campus. Departments and units choosing
to subscribe to AD will be able to use a single sign-on to authenticate
to Windows machines and use AD services.* |
Who can use this service |
All University faculty, staff, students, and retirees may use the Active Directory. Organizational Unit administration is limited to full-time faculty/staff. |

What you must have in order to use the service |
Note: Network Administrators who would like to use full directory features must enroll as an Organizational Unit (OU) and have a system with Windows XP Professional or Windows Server 2003 to administer the OU. |

CITES follows best practices for managing changes made to the Active Directory service. Any significant changes to the AD service will be posted at http://www.ad.uiuc.edu/status.aspx and communicated by OU Administrators to their department's subscribers. |
