CITES NetFiles Retires Dec. 21

CITES NetFiles will be retired December 21, 2012. NetFiles has served for many years as the campus's free solution for personal backup, file sharing, and web publishing but it is time to move off this system and on to other services that offer new and more contemporary features, like U of I Box.  The retirement of this service has been endorsed by the IT Council and approved by the CITES Directors.

In order to help you determine how or where to move your NetFiles materials, CITES has documented several alternative solutions, based on use cases.  Information to assist your self-migration can be found at http://www.cites.illinois.edu/news/2012/netfilesalternatives.html. You will need to move any content you have in NetFiles by December 21, 2012, or you will forfeit the chance to retrieve your files.

If you take action and move your content, and you do not want to receive any further notices, please remove all content from your NetFiles account.  Subsequent notices will only be sent to users with content in their accounts.

If you have questions, please contact the CITES Help Desk at consult@illinois.edu.
