For the fifth year in a row, CITES cosponsored the Division of Campus
Recreation's event for incoming students. Block Party 2006 (formerly
known as Fresh Start) was held on Sunday, August 20, from 7:00 to
11:00 p.m. This year the event was held at CRCE rather than IMPE and
was open to all students. The CITES "block" in the party was
Bourbon Street in New Orleans and the games and decorations used a
Mardi Gras theme. Close to 1,000 students registered to win the iPod/
Mac Mini CITES grand prize. Abut 50 CITES staff members helped run
the games and served up popcorn and snow cones. A sweet side benefit:
students receive information about CITES services in a fun, friendly
way. Thanks to all who made the event so successful.
