Guests and Visitors' Guide
This page contains information about network access for guests and visitors to campus.
The resources available to you as a guest of or visitor to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus will depend on your visiting arrangements and the length of your stay.
Have you arranged your visit with an individual or department on campus?
Yes
Guests who visit the campus for a few days often want network access, and possibly computer lab access. To learn more about the network and lab access available to you during your visit, see Information for Short-Term Guests.
If you'll be around campus for a longer period of time — a month to a year, for example — you'll want a guest NetID, which provides access to library resources, CITES Express Email, and CITES NetFiles (online file storage), in addition to network access. To learn more about guest NetIDs, see Information for Long-Term Guests.
No
Even as a visitor without an on-campus host, you can still access the Internet from several UI Public Wireless locations around campus and in the community.
Are you visiting from another University of Illinois campus?
If you're visiting from another University of Illinois campus, your University of Illinois-granted NetID will provide network access for you in many cases, but you may need to enter your NetID differently. See Guests from Other University of Illinois Campuses for details.
