Configure Apple Mail IMAP for Illinois.edu

This page contains the steps necessary to have both your NetID@uiuc.edu address and your NetID@illinois.edu address be available as a “From” address through Apple Mail IMAP.

To have both your NetID@uiuc.edu address and your NetID@illinois.edu address be available as a “From” address, do the following:

  1. Open Apple Mail.
    2.  Apple Mail icon
  2. Select Preferences from the Mail menu.
    3. Apple Mail Preferences
  3. Select the Accounts tab.
  4. Make sure the Account Information menu is selected.

  5. In the list of accounts on the left side, select the one that is for your University of Illinois CITES Express Email.
  6. In the Email Address field, you should currently have this this: NetID@uiuc.edu. Change that

    7. to this: NetID@illinois.edu, NetID@uiuc.edu (including the comma)

    Note: The address you enter in the field first will be your default "From" address.

  7. Close the Preferences window.
  8. Click Save to save your account changes.

When composing an email, you will now be able to select either your netid@uiuc.edu or your netid@illlinois.edu email address.
