Illinois Compass Learning Modules can be exported into a .zip folder that can be stored on your computer. The .zip folder can then be uploaded back into an Illinois Compass course site.
Please Note: Exporting learning modules works very well but has limitations. An exported learning module will preserve content files such as Word documents, PDFs, PowerPoints, etc., assessments and HTML content pages. However, images or media embedded in your HTML pages and residing on the Compass server will NOT automatically be exported, nor will any content other than assessments created within Compass itself (i.e., chats, discussion boards, assignments - none of these export). Please contact EdTech (edtech@uiuc.edu) for ideas on how best to preserve such information if you are using these tools and need to transfer them to the new system.
In the Build tab, go to the Content Inventory sub-tab and select Learning Module.

You can select learning modules individually to download, or you can download all of your learning modules at once. To get all learning modules, be sure to edit your paging so that all learning modules are visible on one page. Select Edit Paging and use a number high enough to guarantee that all of your learning modules will appear on one page.

Select the Check All box in order to select all of your learning modules.

Learning modules will be bundled into a .zip file. Give the file a name.

The File Browser window will pop-up. Select Choose Current Folder.

An "Export Progress" activity bar will appear.

When the export is complete, you will see an Export Log. If the export is successful, click Return.

Go to the Basic View tab and click on File Manager.

Select your learning module file. Click Download.

You can choose to either save your .zip file to your computer, or open it. We recommend that you save the file to you computer and keep it as a .zip file until you need to upload it back into an Illinois Compass course site.

Log in to the New Illinois Compass. Click on your course site and select the Build tab.
