The Illinois Compass File Manager allows you to download all course content such as images and Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint files) into a .zip folder that can be stored on your computer. The .zip folder can then be uploaded back into an Illinois Compass course site.
Go to the Basic View tab and click on File Manager.

You can select files individually to download, or you can download all of your content files at once. To download all of your files, be sure to edit your paging so that all files are visible on one page. Select Edit Paging and use a number high enough to guarantee that all of your files will appear on one page.


Select the Check All box in order to select all of your files.

At the bottom of the page, click Download. All of your files will be downloaded into a .zip folder, which you can then save on your desktop.

You can choose to either save your .zip file to your computer, or open it. We recommend that you save the file to you computer and keep it as a .zip file until you need to upload back into an Illinois Compass course site.

Log in to the New Illinois Compass and select the Build tab.

Go to File Manager.

Select Get Files.

The "Get Files" window will pop-up. Select My Computer.
Find your .zip file and select Open.

From the File Manager screen, you will see your .zip file. To extract the contents from the file, select the dropdown arrow next to your file and choose Extract.

An "Extracting the specified package" activity bar will appear.

When the extraction is complete, you'll see your unzipped files in a new folder in the File Manager.
