Researching Teaching and Learning with Technology

CITES is committed to evaluating and assessing current practices and innovative methods for teaching and learning with technology while exploring the potential of emerging digital and online technologies for education and instruction. Our staff will partner with faculty and instructors to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of technology integrations in a class or curriculum. We also conduct research on teaching with technology trends across campus through surveys, focus groups, and interviews.

In addition to our work on the Urbana campus, our staff has presented papers and talks at numerous regional, national, and international teaching with technology conferences and published articles in academic journals on a variety of educational topics.

Conduct Research on Your Teaching

CITES consultants will meet with any instructor who wishes to evaluate the effectiveness of their technology use for teaching and learning. We will work with instructors to identify what types of student outcomes they wish to assess, methods for tracking student behavior, the efficacy of a technology to meet an educational need, and other methods for assessing the impact of technology use in the classroom. When necessary we will also help instructors locate campus resources, such as those in the Center for Teaching Excellence, for specialized or extensive course and curriculum evaluations.

To arrange a meeting with one of our consultants please e-mail edtech@uiuc.edu or call 244-7000.
