For IT Pros
This page contains information about DNS tools available to campus IT professionals, including the campus DNS web appliance.
DNS-related tools and services
Contact Manager
Network administrators can now keep their identities up to date using Contact Manager.
Active Directory
The Campus Active Directory is now in production and available to all interested Campus units.
DNS Tools
Several DNS-related tools for network administrators are available at http://www-dns.cites.illinois.edu/dnstools/.
These include:
- Data file viewing: A web interface allowing network administrators
to
view and download the contents of the UIUC DNS record files. - Web DNS lookup: A web-based alternative to the Unix nslookup
command.
The online form searches by host name, IP address, domain, and network. - Domain request forms: Forms for use when requesting customer-specific domains.
Additional tools may also be added. However, the bulk of DNS-related work (host registration, CNAME registration, MX records, and the like) will be handled through the campus DNS web appliance.
