UIUCnet Premier Dialup Service

CITES provides a premium service intended for people who want dialup service to UIUCnet with few busy signals. The number of UIUCnet Premier dialup lines is kept proportional to the number of subscribers.

UIUCnet Premier

• Premier subscribers receive 25 hours/week, with the ability to save up to 50 hours in your "time bank."
• Additional hours are billable at 30 cents per hour.
• Premier uses the same login sequence as the free services. You only need to change the phone number dialed to 239-7252.
• All University of Illinois faculty, staff, and students are eligible for this service.
• You may, if you choose, still dial one of the other CITES supported dialup numbers. Only Premier subscribers will be permitted on 239-7252.
• The Premier dialup pool is capable of handling higher-speed ISDN connections. (However, CITES does not provide end-user support for this option. If you choose to use an ISDN modem with the campus modem pools, you will be responsible for resolving any problems you experience.)

•  $12 initial signup fee plus $5 per month
•  Monthly billing through University account, SAR, or GAR
•  Simple web-based sign-up. Charging to a departmental account requires submitting a TSO. More information is available on the signup page.
• Additional hours billed automatically ($.30/hour)

800-number access to Premier or standard terminal servers

800-number access is available for both Premier and regular terminal servers. You can also use this personal 800-number to call campus numbers from anywhere.

The 800 number costs $.15 per minute when calling to CITES Terminal Servers and Premier, and $.50 per minute to all other campus and local telephone numbers. The CITES business office provides you with a special 800 number access authorization number and dialing instructions. For more information, see UIUC 800 Number Access.

Enrolling in Premier and/or 800 number access

To sign up, and have the charges billed to a GAR/SAR (personal) account, or to discontinue service, go to https://uofitelecom.cso.uiuc.edu/changeservice.cgi/sourcehtml/ndo/termserv/TSselect.html. If you want to have a university account billed for Premier charges, please ask your departmental telecommunications coordinator to submit a TSO with the following information:

1. The service requested (UIUCnet Premier, Standard Terminal Server Access Additional Minutes, or 800 Terminal Server Access)
2. The CFOP or CFOPAL account number to be billed
3. Your Network ID
