DHCP
For IT Pros
This page contains information about the campus DHCP service for IT professionals; end users should contact their IT professional if they need help with DHCP.
Introduction
The DHCP Service is a production-level campus service offering which enables client computers on supported networks to automatically obtain an IP address and other parameters using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). Most aspects of the DHCP configuration for each network can be managed directly by campus network administrators using the Grid Manager web interface at https://ipam.illinois.edu or via the API.
Requesting DHCP for your network
To enable campus DHCP service for your network, email hostmgr@illinois.edu with the following information:
- The name and CIDR of the network
- Does the network currently have a DHCP server (either local or remote)? If yes, please provide configuration details and we will assist you in migrating your existing DHCP configuration into the campus service.
- Any other special configuration changes you require at this time (e.g. DHCP options set at the network level, new MAC Address Filters, etc)
For new networks, you can work with your network designer to request DHCP service as part of the network creation process.
