About Illinois Compass

Illinois Compass, powered by Blackboard Vista Enterprise Edition, is an enterprise learning management system that gives faculty, instructors, students, and others a collaborative online space with tools for managing and delivering course assignments, tracking and publishing grades, and keeping course material available to students outside the classroom walls. The system has been customized for use by University faculty.

Instructor resources

We maintain a large amount of documentation and Resources for Instructors regarding Illinois Compass: Request your Course Site and review tutorials on how to use Compass more effectively. We also keep a log of Compass Bugs and fixes as well as a great deal of other helpful information.

Student resources

Basic documentation and tutorials to get you started using Illinois Compass including: how to take tests and assessments and how to use the communication tools.

The second generation of the campus enterprise learning management system Illinois Compass, Illinois Compass 2g, made its campus-wide debut in November 2011. Illinois Compass 2g is powered by Blackboard Learn 9.1.
