What is CITES?
CITES is the provider of campus-wide computing, networking, communications technology, and instructional technology services supporting academic activities of faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. CITES employs about 260 people; most of whom work in the Digital Computer Lab.

Email and more
CITES provides a number of Internet-type services to the campus,including email, online course management systems, file storage and web publishing, and online calendaring.

The Help Desk
The CITES Help Desk provides computer help in person or via phone, email, or online chat.
CITES also has OnSite Consulting, a help service that makes house calls.
Campus WiFi
CITES designs and manages the campus wireless Internet services.
The Campus Phone System
CITES manages the campus phone and voice mail systems.

CITES maintains many computer labs across campus and in the dorms.
The Campus Network
CITES staff install and maintain the network and phone hardware across the campus, including wiring, switches, and network and phone jacks in the walls.
CITES also manages the campus's connection to the Internet, working with big ISPs and designing and managing the systems to connect our campus network to the Internet.
Campus Identity Management
CITES manages many of the authentication and identity systems on campus, including NetIDs, various passwords, and the online campus phonebook.
Departmental Network Support
CITES provides network services to network administrators across campus, to help them manage their own departmental networks.
CITES also provides support and personnel to departments to assist in managing their networks.
Smart Classrooms
CITES designs, installs, and maintains "smart classrooms," classrooms with AV and computer equipment.
Research and Learning Technology
CITES assists faculty with using the latest technologies to enhance learning.
Training
CITES provides training for a variety of software and services.
